Noob question regarding decals

Post by RozzaNI »

So I got myself a L5 98' 400, and the previous owner(s) kept the bike in relatively good condition other than the decals on the tank and fibre-glassing over a scratch on the lower fairing. I'm looking to replace the 'ZXR' decal on the right side of the tank.

My question is, is it safe just to use a hairdryer and take the sticker off, then use WD40/white spirit to rub off the glue? I was advised by the seller to take it to a garage to get it professionally done, as the decal will require a sanding and repaint due to being on there from factory. I'm assuming this isn't the case, and I can just do it myself?

Sorry, noob first rider and learning a lot of things for the first time!

Cheers

Don't know about the L5 but my decals on the L9 are lacquered over so hairdryer wd40 trick won't work on mine

My tank is definitely factory stock
