hi ive just de-restricted my zxr 400 by taking the restrictors out of the carbs,but it still feels like its restricted is there any other restrictors?

my cdi has these numbers on it 2119 1394 and its a yellow sticker is it restricted?

Easy answer is yes however it could be that somebody has overcome it.

But yes a yellow CDI box is a restriced one.

You should also see a 3 wire lead from your speedo that connects to the loom via a black connecter.

yes it has,would this effect the acceleration as well as the top speed?

OK I'll explain

You have an Import ZXR400 it is restricted..................this restriction takes to form of a speed sensor in the speedo that restricts your top speed I think it's 110mph. This is done voa the 3 wire black connecter sending a signal to the CDI that you bike has reach that preset top speed.

If you unplug the unplug black 3 wire connecter at the speedo the CDI box goes into a default mode and will not allow the bike to rev over 10,000

There are anumber of methods of overcoming the restriction all of which are explain in the various threads on this subject
A quick run through...........................

1. Replace CDI for a blue UK one or

2. Fit an after market deristricter or

3. Connect a 10 ohm resister across two of the wires at the black connecter I think it's the outside two or

4. Open the speedo and bend back the little tab that makes the connection at the preset top speed or

5. disconnect the speedo drive cable (illegal) or

6. Buy a UK ZXR 400

Mine struggles to hit 85mph? it also has a kph-mph converter fitted

Ah maybe it restricted to 110 KPH

answer to the above is "same as before" you have a 21119-1331 cdi, blue label, big "L" on it .. just another restricted import ignition

you want a 21119-1332, blue label, big "M" on it.


however.. if its fit the bike should pull over 85 whatever ignition is fitted.

kph or mph clocks ?

check it hasnt had tiny jets fitted when it was restricted, and that the air filter/airbox assembly is complete and in good condition.

hi if my down pipes are blowing a bit would that be the cause of my problem
