Can't go past 110mph

Post by george_258258 »

My bike is a uk model, I have just recently removed the carb restrictors but I am finding the bike struggling at top end. It will get to 100 quick, but struggles to get to 110 and then wont go much above this; most i have seen is 115. It has just been fully serviced but i am unsure of what the problem could be, any suggestions?

Air/fuel mix + balance the carbs.

Get it on a dyno mate.

What cdi have you got? If it has a uk cdi it will be blue and stamped with an M.

I have had the carbs balanced since and it is running smoother I but still have the same problem with it lacking power. The cdi is has a blue 1332 M sticker. Im assuming this means it isn't restricted then.

I did notice that the gasket between the carb plate and the airbox is missing and so unfiltered air is getting in through there, but does anyone know what effects this would have?

cheers

That will be throwing the air:fuel mix off and causing the bike to run lean.

I have another one on order; is there anything else that you can think that would be causing my problem. Someone said if the jets had been changed with smaller ones this could have an effect

having too small main jets will restrict fuel flow at high rpm/wide open throttle applications.

remove the carbs and the fuel bowl on them and tell me what numbers are stamped on the main brass jets, if you can also remind me what air filter, downpipes and exhaust you have, that would be a bonus.
