Hi, just a little information you may already know- The Japanese Bikes come restricted to 110mph. This is because inside the Japanese clocks there is a signal between two points and inside the clock when the speedo needle breaks this signal, the Japanese Cdi limits the bike and stops it going any faster. As a safety point they also made it so if you disconnect the clocks, the Cdi realises this and sets an automatic 10000rpm limiter.

Now the problem you have is that because there is no restrictor inside your UK clocks your Japanese cdi is presuming the clocks have been disconnected and therefore limiting you bike to 10000rpm.

The speedo mod where you remove the restrictor in the clock will not work because there isn't one at all inside your clock which is why it's gone to the default 10000rpm.

To be honest I'm not sure if the resistor/black box mod will work or not because you have UK clocks - can anyone else answer this?

I know one sure way to fix your problem would be to swap your cdi for a UK one!

It most likely is your cdi but when you hit 10000rpm is it definitely a limiter you hit or does it just struggle to rev anymore?

Sure it's a limiter as will rev up over that even in neutral as I said cdi has no stickers on it

if you have a true UK bike with mph clocks then you will have NO restrictions on the bike.

get hold of a genuine L or M marked cdi and report back.

also what downpipes, airfilter/can are you using? some pics would help.

i would guess it wont pull as its not fuelling right on WOT.

Bit of a flat spot under 4k but then pulls ok till 10.5k

check the main jets, i would bet you need at least 100's as a minimum for it to not be lean.

im on a similar setup and im on 105 mains

Will it actually rev past 10500rpm or does it just stop there?

Banner - his bike shouldn't come with any restrictions but now it's got a Japanese cdi that would mean it would set the 10000rpm limiter wouldn't it? If you fitted UK clocks to a Japanese import would it de-restrict it?

Running 100 equivalents in mine and think is still lean with k&n, race end can and downpipes. Will it rev past 10k/10.5k (you changed halfway) in lower gears? What speed are you getting in each gear as sometimes the clocks can go dodgy, my bike doesn't show more than 12.5k but will hit 145 on the clocks, worth a check
