Making a restrictor kit

Hi there,

Basically I want, or should I say I will be getting a zxr400. I find more unrestricted then restricted therefore it looks like i'll be getting an unrestricted one and restricting it due to my licence.

Anyways, instead of spending about £100 on some washers could someone tell me the dimensions of the restrictors?

e.g. thickness, what material they are made from, width, height, diameter of holes, basically all the dimensions i will need to make them, or does somebody want to sell me just one?

Cheeky I know buy id rather save my money and get a decent zxr400 then having a lower budget.

use the inlet rubbers as a template, then find out what size the hole is.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Not entirely sure of the restrictor dimensions. As MOI says use the inlet rubbers as a template to make the plate itself then its just a case of drilling the right size hole in the middle! I rememeber taking them out of my mates ZXR and the hole was just just enough to get the end of my little finger through, so your talkign about 10 - 15mm perhaps?

ooo never thought of that. I think the diameter is 16mm, read it somewhere...

the diameter of the whole plate is 52mm and the diameter of the hole in the centre is 15mm

There is that too! But in my experience and everyone i know who has had one fitted has never been asked by thier insurance for the certificate. No excuse not to have one mind, but id want one just in case, they will cotton on one day!

i believe some insurance companies would accept a dyno chart as proof of restriction - especially if you could talk the dyno place into writing you a short letter on headed paper saying they tested L123 ABC on such-and-such a date and it made 33bhp.
