taken from a post by Zimm from another thread, zxrworld & zxr400ownersclub and any persons involved with either ie me will not be held responsible for any innaccuracies.

SP cdi's (L model) have a different advance curve, but also require(?) a TPS and flatslides.

the UK spec L model CDI (which has serial number 1332) has no speed restrictor circuitry so will allow you to exceed 180kph without an MMax derestrictor, or kph/mph converter

errata : H and L cdi's are non-interchangeable due to an apparent difference in the loom, not as previously stated the differing rotor's.. apparently.. although its still a bit of a grey area, either way they wont "straight swap"

L box on an H has been tested and found not to work, although H engine in an L with original H rotor worked with the L box and loom.

additional : H cdi's have a higher rev-limiter @14,800rpm import L boxes limit to 14,500rpm and uk L boxes limit to 14,900rpm

Just to add aswell, i read there were two blue sticker CDI's, a 1331 and 1332 and both are unrestricted. However I tried out the 1331 and this has a limit of 10,000rpm and only goes up to just over 100mph.

surely it aint gonna make any difference on the cdi if the limiter is in the speedo?

not limited on the speedo as i put the other one back in and it revs well over 10,000rpm

it does, because the 1332 box doesnt talk to the speedo to find out what speed you are doing, so it doesnt know you've disconnected it either which is what triggers the 10k "limp home" mode.

hi, does a restricted cdi unit affect your acceleration?

If you have unplugged the speedo then yes cos the bike will only rev to 10,000
