Speedo change - kph to mph

Post by johntheswed »

I have a zxr400 H1 with a kph speedo and have just got hold of a mph speedo of an L model. What I want to know is if it is possible to change them over or are they geared differently? Has anyone done this?
Also is it just the imports that are restricted using the speedos?

hello mate,

its a simple swap with kmh and mph speedo's, so just plug and play.

Yes, only imports had the 110mph restriction.

it'll swap in, and work, but you'll be restricted to about 10,000rpm without an M-max box plugged into the loom where the kph speedo was.

I already have a derestrictor box for my kph speedo. Is this another derestrictor? Nothing happens below 10 000 rpm so can't have that.

in that case leave the de-restricter plugged in and fit the mph clock :)
