De-Restriction Method #1 - Clock Tab Mod

Post by RedexRobB »

As some of you with import ZXR's will find you are either restricted to 110 mph or you cant rev past 10K rpm. The problem to this lies with the CDI if it is an import as these are restricted to 110mph (180kmh) for japanese markets. If you are stuck at 10krpm this is because the clock is not connected to the loom telling the CDI it is there, it then goes into a default mode and limits the revs to 10k.

One way to rid through the top speed is to take out a tab in the back of the clocks, you will find these in the back of a KMH speedo, not yet seen one in the back of a MPH speedo.

If you are stuck at 10K rpm this is usually solved by connecting the clocks back into the loom behind the speedo. If you are unfortunate enough to have an import with MPH clocks then you will need to obtain kph clocks and take the tab out as explained in the link above, or get a derestrictor (explained in method 2 soon to come).
