Right, basically if I rev the bike to anything above 2000rpm E.G. blipping the throttle, the revs go down as normal but as soon as the revs drop to ~2000rpm it kinda stays there for a second before dropping to ~1250rpm(idle). it's like the revs has what I would like to call, "hang time".
Anyone else get that problem?
What things should I start checking/cleaning/stripping or rebuilding if essential?
I dunno what is causing the bike to do this as it's driving me nuts when rolling up to junctions
Thanks in advice.
Richard

Re: Wild revs...
you wanna check the throttle return cables not sticking, and wd40 the spring and mechanism.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Re: Wild revs...
Or just disconnect the decelorator cable completely will find out if that's causing your problem then.

Re: Wild revs...
hi all
just new to the site and was reading the above problem ,i had a cbr600 and it did the same thing ,i took the carbs off, and found one of the butterflies was a little out of wack so i futtered about with it and then spent a while pulling the throttle mechanism fully open and letting it snap back lots of times to sort its self out ,by the advice of a mate ,and it sorted it right out ,might not be same but worth a try if you havent already sorted it , cheers.

My H model does the same. I'm gonna lube the cables on thursday and hopefully put an end to it.

Re: Wild revs...
I seemed to of fixed this problem down to a huge leak in the intake rubbers. Simply took them all off, put some HT gasket sealer round them and is now all good
Spray karb cleen across all 4 inlets and if the engine revs high, there's a leak.
Regards
Rich
