Throttle Sticking
Just had my bike running before (still not ridden it yet) and the throttle seems to be sticking open at around 2500rpm when the revs drop back down after i release the throttle (just reving it in neutral). I think it might be the throttle paddle sticking a bit but i'm not sure how to access it to clean it out etc.
Now i'm not too familiar with engines and on my car there was a single throttle paddle on the air intake which i had to clean when i had the same problem with that, as the paddle kept jamming open causing the engine to rev on its own. But that was fuel injection. So i doubt it will be like that on my bike will it? Will it be the carbs? Or summat else? I'm pretty sure the throttle grip isnt sticking.
I just thought i'd ask before i start stripping my bike down
Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Throttle Sticking
agree with rover220 get it running and try and spray some carb cleaner around the intakes see if the revs rise.

Re: Throttle Sticking
your gonna need to take the tank off and probably the airbox too if you want to get at it all properly.rickyt28 wrote:Cheers lads. Re: Throttle Sticking
Well thats what i thought but masterofinsanity confused me a bit by saying get it running and try and spray some carb cleaner around the intakes. Coz i can't run it without the tank on can i.
I'll have a look later. Is the tank easy to remove? Does it need to be empty of petrol before its removed?

Re: Throttle Sticking
whip the tank off and turn it round so its sat on the seat, there's probably enough fuel in the carbs to run it without the tank anyway, just watch the tank don't fall off.

Ahhh! nice one mate, i'll try that.
So if i turn the fuel tap off is it attached to the tank so it will hold the petrol in the tank? or will the fuel tap stay in its position and the tank comes away from it? if yano what i mean..

Oh hang on, the pennies just dropped, i dont need to shut the fuel off anyway do i? coz if i just twist the tank round the pipelines can stay connected.

Re: Throttle Sticking
if you disconnect the pipe then turn the fuel off or you might have a disaster on your hands.
