Another cause of hot starting problems?

Have just read on another forum as posted by a bike dealer, very experienced racer with lots of spannering know-how, that tight valve clearances can cause hot starting problems. Knowing how some owners seem to treat valve clearance adjustments on 4-strokes as an optional service task, I wonder how many people who are experiencing this issue have had theirs adjusted.

my bike has that exact problem, cold starting is fine, but more often then not when I go to the petrol station and turn the engine off, then go about the fuelling business, get back on the bike and then having to suffer the embarrassment of trying to start it, then putting my visor down and wheeling it to a nearby wall and having to wait for 15-20mins for it to cool down again, I bought the bike off a guy who had it as a project and now I guess that valve clearance wasnt on his to do list, but now its certainly on mine!!
