electrical demons

Post by Deano2485 »

Hi I stripped my zxr 400 l5 trackbike down to change a bent frame. I took pictures of everything and every part of the loom but after putting it all back together it wont start. If I put the key in and switch it on all the dash lights light up but the fuel pump does not start but when I hit the starter button the fuel pump starts but the starter motor does not. If I short the main starter motor solenoid the bike starts and runs fine any idears guys im leaning towards the junction box being faulty as both circuits pass through it

Faulty fuel pump relay? I had a few problems because of mine, iirc the white permanent live passes through which could be causing the problem

the fuel pump should not start when you turn the key, it only works when the starter is pressed/engine is running (thats how mine is).

you have a faulty starter solenoid, you need to go looking for an ebay replacement.

Just went to replace a bent clutch lever and found the clutch switch had broken shorted it out and hey presto it works off the starter switch now
