the bike just died! help need please.

Post by justdan »

Hi guys,

Something happened to the bike and I have no idea why.

I have been off work for few day but when I try to use it yesterday it won't start, I mean when I turned the key the little engine and neutral light didn't even come on. Simply nothing, so I thought it could be the battery and when I plug in my OXFORD OXIMISER 600 the battery indicator wasn't even light up, so what happened?

any idea? All I did when I wasn't use the bike was wash it.

Please help.

it sounds like your battery is dead if this particular light on the optimiser usually came on. do you have a multimeter to check the actual battery voltage.

i would start there, i.e. with the easy bits, and report back what you find.

a new battery is little more than a full tank of petrol for a 400cc bike, so its not a major expense if you have to buy a new one - they dont last forever.

Thanks for the reply.

I was just checking the battery and if I am checking it correctly it read 3.77V which I know is very very low and the only explanation i can think of is after I washed the bike, I turned it into parking mode and used up all the battery but the battery have been in charge for 6 hours now why it is still so low? or it didn't even charge it? do I need a new battery?

I turned the key to on just now and it is still nothing.

What should I do now? take the battery from the bike to charge it directly from the main instead of the using OXIMISER cable?

yup, dead battery, you can "charge" it all you want...its still gonna be dead.

anything under 10V and its only good for your local recycling centre.

so, I replaced the battery today for £50 and after I change it I tested the old one and somehow it went up to 5V from yesterday 3.7V, why? and it started changing, was I stupid wasted the money for a new battery or the old one have problem and that's why it behaved like that.

Only wish I am more hand on and know more technical stuff, so I don have to bother you guys so much.

our standard motorcycle battery's are not ment to be "deep-cycled", you have killed your battery by discharging it so much...it is damaged.

sorry, didnt literally mean the bin, i did say recycling center above.

Here at ZXRworld.co.uk we do not advise throwing a battery in a bin.

Take it to your local council refuse site where they can dispose of it properly.

Personally speaking I take old batteries to my local metal recyclers and get some hard folding cash for them.......................
