Zxr400 H1 Problems :( :(

Hi there,
Been a forum lurker for a long while now and have completed headgasket/camchain/forkseals all through the expertise on this site!

However my H1 is broken and some advice would be great...Here it goes..

I had a bad battery last year and so when I was starting her up to check idle and jet performance etc I used a battery jumper. So this battery jumper worked great
and helped start her up every time, HOWEVER, it was adjustable and the last time I used it, it was turned up too much. So she started up, ran, then died. All the lights on the dash work fine, but no response from the starter button. She would however start if you bridge the terminals on the starter relay!

I checked the sidestand switch, the neutral switch and changed the ignition switch. I checked all of the parts to the ignition circuit against what it says in the manual, and they are all fine. I thought the pulsing coil was dodgy so I replaced that-no difference. I checked the main fuse in the starter relay and it was fine, but i replaced that anyway because the points looked a bit corroded. Changed cdi and igniter and junction box, still no difference. Changed both handlebar switch sets. And then Finally I caved and bought another Loom, which I checked with a multimeter before fitting.

I have now got multiples of basically everything now and its just the same each time, lights come on but absolutely no response to the starter button and this is on a brand spanking new battery which stays at 12.7volts. The starter will turn on the bridged starter relay, but the bike wont start.

I just want to get the starter going from the button again..

Any Ideas?

did you replace the starter relay or just the fuse?

Both! I have about 3 of them, all with fuses that look fine, one of which is brand new.

have you checked to see if the starter relay is getting a 12V feed when the "start" button is pressed?

have you checked for continuity across the start button wiring when it is pressed?

I have checked the starter button with the multimeter and it was fine. There is no power to the white wire at the starter relay when the button is pressed..
