Hi Everybody :smt006 Just joined and hope somebody who is more logically minded then me can help me get my ZXR400 L1 back to life.

To cut a long story short the bike had a small electrical fire which toasted the main loom (and god knows what else)just under the seat after riding through a monsoon.

Current situation:
New loom aquired and fitted. Starter turns over but no sparks from ANY of the coil outputs.

Spares Availible:
Being my ex race bike I have many parts to swap out, coils, Ignitor box, Junction box, even a new ignition switch because the resistor in the old one got toasted.

I have swapped out all of the above, checked the side stand, kill switch and the static resistance of the pickup coil is in spec. and still no fugging spark :smt013

What I need is a fresh pair of eyes. A start from first principles to get a spark back into my bike. I hope you guys can help.

Thanks for listening

Rik

PS I'm based in Woking, Surrey

mmm is the bike an import? don't you need to match the loom to the cdi?

Nope its ex-PB/ex-Kawasaki UK.

Tell me more about this matching up looms. All the plugs connected up fine and all the other electrics work, lights, horn etc.

just ahd a feeling that if you had an import cdi then a uk spec loom won't work properly? might be completely wrong, think sloweracing will probably answer my question?

Golly! So the question has to be how can I tell UK spec loom/CDI from an import.

something to do with the numbers on the cdi. someone on here knows, do a search for cdi or similar.

Hmm, search didn't reveal much if anything.
