Could even be a a run of coils that were used in production, and were more susceptible to temperature? Not sure where else you could place them, im sure cargo mentioned once he placed them elsewhere on his bike and just had longer HT leads.

im gonna throw a small spanner in the works, but i have other issues wth the bike as well, that some advice could be used with.
bike was running spot on, as i say drive way test was a good one.
then rode to the petrol station, guage showing about a quater temp.
filled up, and woom woom woom
were running again.
went for a ride, about 25 miles or so, and all was good ( admittedly there is still quite a bit of red ex in my fuel as i put too much in before d'oh) the bike ran sweet, pulled like a charm.
i am about to fit a new clutch cause mine is a bit shagged!!!
then slowed down in traffic at the junction to get to my house, bike is purring away, and while trying to get from 1st to nuetral, accidential went to far, so was on second gear.
bike cuts out????
i think this is cause the clutch is still slightly engaged because springs and everything are fooked.
it wont start now.
wheeled it home and wshed it, to let it cool down, and just won't fire up at all.
will try again later as ran the battery a little low.
this is very strange mine you
any ideas.

could be coils breaking down due to heat ... but in 10 years ive never had to replace a dodgy zxr coil, or had one break down like that .. its normally plugs/ht leads/other random stuff and fiddling with coils seems to fix it because you've jiggled everything else.

ive had 2 with hot starting issues, the H2 that gubbs had .. which was most likely a duff regulator/fried battery/home-made genny gasket combination.. although that was broken for parts instead of fixed... and my H1, which was a blown head-gasket and massively rich idle mixture which in combination meant it ran V hot, and then starting it on the button was like having full choke on ..

on track bikes the coils can be mounted by the clocks, on my hybrid they are mounted near the top mount for the rear shock, this is due to not having space for them in the normal location due to ram-air.

could it be from the excess redex surely too much is fuel/redex ratio is gonna affect the firing?

you checked the sidestand cut-out ? and the one by the clutch lever ?

i doubt its your clutch, besides, shagged plates/springs normally means slip, not drag.

this is getting a bit off-topic now ..

to be fair, thats my thought about the redex, as it will be running super rich, as thats what redex does. on saturday, im gonna pull the plugs out, and expect them to be super black, from being over rich.
i will check the ht leads etc, but as say, it sounds like its all firing up until the engine, but once running is absolutely mint?
which leads me to think fueling, and admittedly, it can sometimes give a pop from the exhaust from too much fuel.
i also think the rectifier may need changing, but whats the best way to check if thats working ok.

i'm sure the manual tells you how to check the rectifier.

side stand cut out switch is located behind the sidestand believe it or not :smt003 there's a little black box with a switch that works as you move the sidestand, with the stand dowm you can push the switch in and out.

it defo makes it un richer though doesn't it.
with ht leads, if you remove them and turn the engine, you should see little sparks inside them shouldn't you. cause im not really, so do we think this could be my problem,
ps i dont seem to have a side stand switch?
