Normal idle bimbles happily around 1700rpm. After taking the bike to the limiter in almost every gear and then hitting a red light, I noticed that it sticks on 2300+rpm every time and never decreases. Something to do with the throttle cable? I have no idea

Anyone else had this problem? The engine noise is beginning to pss me off at red lights!

sounds like the throttle cable is sticking, whip it out and reoil it, check your return cable is there too.

give the choke cable a good squirt of wd whilst ya there to mate, mite be sticking to?

mine used to do that after 30 mins of pure rev limiter, think its got somthing to do with it getting hot but havent a clue.

Theres a little wheel just above the clutch cover that you can ajust the idle speed with

Thats a typical problem with some ZXR's, you come upto the lights and its revving higher than it should be then dies down. No idea what it is tho, try running some Redex through as well as everything else thats been mentioned.

try it and see?

If it does it when its hot, like after giving it the beans, idles high and then drops after a while, it could be the air corrector screws. If its running to lean, there the symptoms.

Thanks for teh advice everyone. I'm gonna lube her up - ha ha - this weekend, so will see if this fixes the problem. Noticed that the revs drop down again after a while though, which could be from running too hot?

What are air corrector screws btw?

Not so sure if I can buy Redex in Japan...will find the nearest equivalent

mine does this too, not every time mind but it does.

Maybe you should mention this at the next Redex Board meeting Rob? could make your shares worth a little more
