yea well took the bike out today and it doesnt seem to want to rev over 8000 it just kinda misfires stops accelerating and pops. It seems ok in first gear but 2nd and 3rd and 4th are doing it

didnt test others as cudnt go fast around my streets. Now i think it could have something to do with filling up as the inside of my tank it a bit in a toad state and when i put the pump in i think i may have scrayped some peeling paint? from inside of it. Could this be the problem or is it likely to be anything else?
many thanks
Rhys

certainly sounds like a fuelling issue, have you checked the fuel filter is not blocked?

if i had this trouble, i'd start by cleaning the carbs, get a good carb cleaner with a straw and blow it down the main jets.
it does sound carb/muck related.
good luck

easier to check plugs and leads than strip the carbs .. i'd start there, if that doesnt fix it drain the float bowls, if that fails, strip the carbs.

i think it is definetly because i knocked some crap of the inside of the tank. Any guides on any of this?

there's a guide for balancing carbs on the main site which will guide you to taking the tank/airbox off, just a matter of removing the carbs and floatbowls or just drain them.
