Any one else experience this?

When i have some choke on from cold the bike revs accordingly. Sit it at about 2-2500rpm for a few secs . The usual thing.
This is all on the side stand.

When you lift the bike upright, the revs suddenly drop down to just over 1000rpm. and if you rock the bike side to side it struggles then dies.

Anyone else? or know if somethings wrong?

I really wouldnt worry about it, thats not what people normally do id have thought. Can only imagine that when you lift the bike off the stand the float bowl level changes which i guess could affect how it runs? No idea if that makes any sense or not, just an idea.

but if its on an angle .. they arent ..

it'd run fine completely vertical with a tad more choke on.

yeah, with the choke on mine it will sometimes run at higher revs on the stand than upright.

seems to run better on the stand, bit more choke upright and it dies because its become too rich!!

paid attention to mine after reading this ..

does it too ..

its just cos when the bike is on an angle the floats arent at the height they are set at, and more fuel gets through.. thats all... i'd bet all bikes with CV carbs do it.

You'll probably find the problem goes away if you change your carb inlet rubbers. :smt001

done that!!
anyways, got some new carbs as apparently mine were shot. AMS sorted me out there though i don't think many people are using him as he remembered the website but said no one ever uses it. Still gave me discount though, top bloke!).
Carbs have sorted all below 4000rpm running wise, still doesn't idle quite right. And now a bit hesitant around 6000 but fine above 10000. Think the carbs need balancing, obviously didn't get it quite right!!

That's odd. I had exactly the same thing (also, the idle dropped when facing down a hill) and was cured with the carb rubbers. :smt017

Needs a new timing chain. Tensioner is new but can't get the cams to line up quite right. slightly off. So either inlet or exhaust valves could be opening a tad early or late. But then hey, its done 33,000 miles so it's probably about time it had a new one!!

I find the revs drop if u just straighten up the handlebars while still on sidestand (with choke). I always assumed it was because by movin the bars you were easin up tension on the choke cable.....Who knows lol
