91 ZXR 750 H1 Won't start! Help Please!!! :smt013

I've had the bike for a year or so, but it has been garaged for at least 6 months. No real problems previously, only difficulty starting when been soaked by the rain.

I stripped, cleaned and started the bike with no problems last week. It ran fine at idle and rode great for the ten minutes it took me to get to the petrol station. within five minutes of filling her up she just died! I couldn't get it started again, even bump starting wouldn't work.

Have since tried and tried to get it to start but no luck. At first I thought it must be the fuel, but after swapping for new fuel and turning over for ages still no luck. It feels very much like a fuel problem, as it makes all the right noises but doesn't seem to have any compression. Sounds like the fuel pump comes on at turning of the key and checked the plugs, which don't have the strongest spark, but are all sparking none the less.

I tried pouring fuel direct into the carb, and it sounded more promising, but have not been able to go any further with it as is awkward to hold clutch in, start it and pour fuel into the carb.. Help me please!!

take the fuel pipe off the carbs from the fuel pump and see if it pumps any fuel out (into a jar) or drain the float bowls and try starting it again then drain them again, this will tell you if fuel is getting to the carbs.Try some easy start, use jump leads off a car, replace the plugs. try those and get back to us.

Sounds like either water in the fuel (which doesn't burn too well) or dirt which doesn't either.

Can you verify that in addition to the sparks you are getting fuel into the engine? Often a quick whiff of the exhaust pipe can confirm this, but don't let anyone see you, I've been caught doing this and had some rahter old fashioned looks from the uninitiated. Usually, so long as one has sparks and fuel a start of somesort should ensue.

Now, far be it from me to advise against the advice offered by Masterofinsanity but I'd lay off the easy start if I were you. Mayhap a quick burst wouldn't hurt but from what I've heard elsewhere while it might be suitable for the lawn mower it is ultimately guaranteed to crack the piston rings. Oh, and an untimely backfire can be quite a surprise for the sprayer! (Don't ask me how I know this, just trust me).

When you say you have weak sparks, it proably wouldn't hurt to charge the battery and while doing so, whip the tank off and make sure all the connections to / from the coils and plugs are sound.

blimey never heard of that b4, i've used this stuff on everything even ran my minimoto on it

Easy start is only supposed to be sprayed sparingly into the inlets prior to attempting to start the engine - not supposed to injected as some sort of fuel alternative - certaily safer than attempting to put liquid fuel directly into the cylinders (as some have attmepted).
Never been a problem for me and I wouldnt be without it

I wouldnt spray anything with easy start , thats if you want it to start again , the motor gets hooked on that stuff like a crack addict

this sound what happend to my crosser it was fine then i filled mine up and it did it when i push started it it would gargul like it was gonna sart but as soon as you stopped it cut out, and you saying the sparks are p00 makes me think it the same thing on mine it was the wire to the spark plugs it had moisture on it making the spark less powerfull and the fresh fuel just fluded the flames
