Another Idle Problem!

I've recently bought myself a 94' ZXR400 and it's got a problem with it's iddling. When it's cold, it runs very lumpy and sounds like it's close to stalling. I've set it to run at about 1200rpm (the needle wabbles between about 900rpm and 1300rpm) when it's cold but after I've ridden it for half an hour or so it'll iddle for between 2500rpm and 4000rpm. I've had to fit a restrictor to it, washers below the carbs, it seems others who have a restrictor in have similar problems. Any thoughts? Thanks, Tim

could be the sealing between the washers and head or inlet rubbers, usually inlet rubbers.

you need to set the idle when it's hot otherwise what your describing will happen. Have you tried setting the idle to 1200 when the bike's hot? It may struggle when cold, but you'll probably just need to leave the choke on longer til it warms up
