Threaded sump

was just servicing the bike and i started to tighthen sump nut back on and it just carried on spinning and the thread inside the sump has broken away,does this mean a new sump and is it a big job.

You could just have it helicoiled

Or redrill it a littel bigger and rethread it

weld up the hole redrill and retap

Weld up the hole and leave it like that

Remove the sump and replace it





Not a big job.................. easy really

Nice one thanks for the reply,i'll get someone to do it for me.Bike is in the shed for the winter now so going to get as these jobs done on it ready for next year.

if the bike is up for the winter id replace the sump. you will be best to do an oil change so a new sump is piss all to worry bout.

If i was to change the sump is there anything to watch out for when doing it,do i have to take the down pipes off etc.

yea u will. give em a spray in exhaust paint if they are not shiny stainless headers lol. u will need a new sump gasket. just ring Cradleys up. they can sort ya one.
