L2 was 77.2 now 79.49 bhp......that'll do

Post by simon_ed »

Well my 400 is continuing to develop and we tried a new motor I got not long back and it's kicking out pretty much 80 bhp. Its running sp cams, 1208 rods, revving to 14,800, and +1 JE pistons. It's also got a RTD programmable ignition. We're gonna have a look at the valve timing cos I think it could be better, but to be honest on an all gear run on the dyno with the quickshifter it sounds awesome,

Sorry for my ignorance, but what are 1208 rods? I know you mean con rods, but dont get what the 1208 refers to...

I believe the 1208 rods are those manufactured in the last two or three years of the ZXR400.

Looks like a pretty good dip at 12K where it should be rising. Did you have the ignition programed with known curves, such as the SP model?

its running flatslides, I swapped the engine back to the +0.5mm engine and we've been tinkering and its now reading 78.98 bhp, the +0.5mm motor has been in all year, we've just been trying to get the flatslides somewhere near for sometime
