Hi there,my name is shane and i live in wigan lancashire,i have just registered on the forum,i purchased a tatty but running 1989 zxr400sp the shop i bought the bike from said it was a japanese import i havent done my bike test yet but definately doing my das in march due to the new ruling system,since i bought the bike i have put new plugs in,oil and filter and have just bought a good battery,but unfortunatley will not start i have had it running since i gave it a bit of tlc,im in the middle of trying to take the flatside carbs off but i can not get them off ive unscwed all of the screws but they will not come?,any help will be much appreciated,im taking the carbs of to give them a good clean,(so the bike can get a clean fuel flow) im also going to see if im getting a spark?.THANKS AGAIN kind regards shane.

Hello shane and welcome to the forum.

Got a few issues there it seems, but nothing major im sure. Ive never seen flatsides fitted but if they are anything like the standard carbs on the ZXR they are are bit if a pig to get off, they need a good tug and pullng up and down helps to get them out of the rubbers.

Have you tried chaging the battery? ZXR's are well known for being akward to start with a battery thats not in tip top shape.
