Hey everyone,

I'm Max from Lancaster, I have recently bought a zxr400 L1 kinda by accident. i was looking for around 400cc's because i was planning on doing my test and moving up from my 125. So i found this zxr400 on ebay and just bought it(it looked ruff in the pics and was on the other end of the uk ) i got the bike back and it was far better looking than i anticipated and i have really started to love it, plus my dad had the 750 version and his friend is currently still riding one so the appreciation was already there. Anyways passed my test :) and i am getting it ready for it's MOT i didnt know it had a sticky caliper and drove it to the MOT center (think i warped disc because of it) so i have had a taste of whats to come and its f***ing awesome , beats the hell out of my RG125 lmao. So i am currently sorting that out and hope to be on the road in a week or two.

However i have a bit of confusion for the model tho,

on the logbook it states L-1 although its 92 so its a L-2 year and on the Japanese model site u have linked in a thread it came back as an l-2 and i cant seem to find another one the same colours. Any feedback would be appreciated, btw what size is the limit for photos my image is too large?

Hi there, there is no difference L1 to L2, so I would go with the age of your numberplate as a guide. As for images, keep them under the average screensize, so go for less than 1600x1600 else they just get to big to be bothered with, I would also use a site like Flickr/imjur etc and link from there.

What colour is your bike, I have an updated colour scheme page on one of the stickys on the workshop subsections

Welcome. He other thing is it could be a 91 that wasn't registered until 92. But like banner says there's no difference so I wouldn't worry about it

Thanks for the replies, I was unsure if there was a difference from what I was reading there is only minor differences between the models, I'm at work at the moment but I will post a photo up when I get back. It's like a purply blue with black orange and pink but it's not like others I've seen lol

Yours might be one that someone has had a custom paintjob, or is wearing later model fairings given the colours you listed.

i was thinking it resembled a later model , i have seen one on google for sale in germany and one for sale in last vegas in the same colours. it has been used overseas but its not an import and it looks too good to be a custom in my opinion but i dunno if its official. cant see it on the kawasaki model identifier thing.

I must be missing come paint codes as yours is definitely genuine and I have seen a similar colour.

It's definitely a L5 onwards fairing as your rear decal just says 400, all the earlier fairings say zxr400...I think it's one of the L8 repaints they did to drum up interest before releasing the new-spec L9's

Ahh thanks for the help.I thought it was too good to be custom, just never seen it on any of the model listings.

Weird how it's ended up with a later set of fairings, the bike seems sweet apart from the caliper and disc which should be sorted next week. But I suppose I'll find out properly from riding it lol
