NEW......BUT OLD!

I'm 60, and just got back into biking after nearly 40 years. Done my usual trick of buying 4 cheap old bikes rather than one moderately priced newer one! Much more fun, I reckon. But I've just got a ZXR400 H1, all lime green, because I've always hankered after a green meanie. Am I allowed to call it a green meanie if it's really a road bike and ridden by an oldie (fortunately a fit one)? Just thought I ought to check that out first. I paid just £310 for it, and it's cosmetically much better than you could expect a twenty one year old bike to be. I'm expecting to spend a bit, though, having bought at that price, but I just love this bike! I don't know whether or not I should post this on another forum, but I could do with some advice about tyres. It needs a front, and, despite the model's pedigree, I don't expect to be throwing it round corners with abandon. I never thought I would reach 60, and now I have I might as well strive for 61! Guy at my local tyre place who has bikes recommends a Michelin (rear is a Michelin) Pilot Road, which is the touring version, I think. Would this be suitable? I would be grateful for any information,
Stewart
P.S. Very impressed with this site............

Hi Stewart, you must officially be our oldest member now! But glad to see your still looning about at 60!

Lots of peeps here will give you advice on tyres, i personally have bridgestone BT090's, very sticky tyre but probably not the best for taking it easy as it will square off (like mine has).

My wifes ZXR has Pilot Power 2CT's on it and she said it was a fantastic difference to the Bridgestones that were on it previously.

But they are in the region of £200 fitted to loose wheels.
