Hello everyone!

Hi all,
I've been registered for a short time, wanted to wait until I picked up my ZXR4 today before posting. Obviously the deal went through so here I am! :smt004
My names Rob, I've been lucky enough to of picked up a low mileage '99 'T' plate ZXR for a good price. I had an old H model 400 quite a few years ago (in the lovely black and gold colours), and my last bike a couple of years back was a ZXR750L1, plus various others along the way. I'm based around the Bromley area SE London so special 'hi' to anyone round this neck of the woods!

Anyway onto the bike, some pics are below. It's got a genuine 6.5k miles on it, and these pics really don't do it justice, it's disgustingly clean. Other than sorting out the indicators for something more normal (those really ain't to my taste) and adjusting the jaunty angle of the number plate, there's little that's needs doing. It's missing a couple of fasteners and it idles a bit high but that's about it. I've never used the word mint to describe any vehicle I've owned before but this bike really is just that.
Tony, if you see this thankyou so so much for selling this bike, I'll take very good care of it I promise :smt002

Well here you are:

welcome to the forum Rob! There lewisdale and saka_zxr down that way i think so a couple of local zxr's to you :)

Very very tidy bike by the looks of it, you must be well happy with that! Plate can be easily sorted with an ally bracket which is what ive done with mine. Idle can be adjusted with the little black knob that pokes out on the right hand side by the lid for the expansion bottle.

Have fun!

Thanks! Ah ok I'll keep an eye out for them.

Yep well chuffed with it, was skeptical before I saw it in the flesh but I have come away thinking I got a bargain :smt003
Yeah that's the plan for the plate area, was thinking about one of those all in one sliding ones you can stick the winkers on too. Some small adjustment with pliers and a hammer will likely get it to fit lol.
Not sure if it's just an idle adjustment, I feel it might be an air leak or sumint like that but I doubt it'll be too much trouble to sort it. I'll try the idle adjuster first (and it sounds the same as the 750 to adjust). It certainly rides ok!

thing i found with those plate brackets, which ive actually got on now, is there was nowhere convenient to mount it, the holes already on the mudguard didnt match up, eventually got it to fit but itll depend exactly on what youve got left of the mudguard and numberplate lights etc... i had none!

The high revs could be a leak, you will know for sure as the revs will hang there and settle when the bike comes to a stop. I suspect the inlets will be ok tho as its a fairly recent bike with low miles. Prob just need turning down, should be set at 1250rpm.

I managed to rig up a slight alteration to the existing plate mount so all good for now :smt001
Picked up one of those brackets anyway for when I do the indicators. I should be able to get something slapped together, thanksfully there's a fair bit of the original plastic still there.

Oddly I couldnt find the idle adjuster anywhere, it must of been left behind the frame last time the tank was off or something. Looks like I'll have to do some dismantling after all.

At least the throttle freeplay & rear brake light switch are now adjusted correctly and the slightly creaky feel to the levers has been fixed thanks to a little grease!
I'm lookin forward to seeing how it fairs on the motorway on Tuesdays commute.

I'm trying to resist spending money on a tinted screen and carbon can but I can feel my resolve weakening :smt003

Looks very clean. Good buy!
Does anyone know where I can get some of those clear flush fit indicators for the front?
