Hello! I have been enjoying the information on the site so far. I bought an "imported" 1993 from a military couple last month. Just trying to get it running and have a blast with it. I have found many many loose bolts and things out of place. Looks like a fork rebuild and a shock replacement is in the cards. Ahhh see it begins with the first response! I just had work offer a three week stint in England coming in August and September. Maybe will get to meet some of you and see a 400 in its native habitat.

I can never leave well enough alone. Using this site so far I believe I have found that 2006 GSXR rear shocks are compatible and I currently have an entire (minus wheel) 2004 ZX6R front end in my garage that I may swap on instead of rebuilding the factory forks.

That leaves the carbs. I purchased a K&N filter and had to remove the snorkel. With the factory can it runs very lean and I have to keep the choke on or smother the air inlet to keep it running. From what I can find here. It appears I need 102 jets to make it right. Any input? I will try to shim the needle jets up a hair or two just to experiment.

I live in the Hampton Roads (Virginia Beach) area of Virginia. About 9 hours from Deal's Gap AKA Tail of the Dragon. Got a chance to do a ride up and back on it a couple weeks ago. It was a bunch of fun before I got stuck behind some rough looking accountants on Harleys. Did that and a track day at Virginia International Raceway on my 07 what you call a Kawasaki ER6F.

I'll throw up some pics of the 400 when the fairings are back on. It is a Black frame w/maroon plastics. The ER6F got a CBR954RR rear shock and a 636 front end w/Z1000 upper triple.

WOW! This bike is a blast. Got it running a few days ago. I can flog on it a bit and not break the speed limits and even with the leaking shock and forks it handles brilliant.

I always wanted gold wheels when i had one that colour.... or so you can understand color

burgandy wheels would look gash. Gold is a much better colour for the wheels, that or black.
