How to use the race magneto?

Hey everyone,
i just bought race magneto off from ebay.
Got the item, take the old one off the bike, put the new one on....then get confused where to put the stator.
once we use the race flywheel (basicly its only the little magnet just behind the big magneto that holds the one way gear covered with thick metal plate) do we still need to use the big magneto? or we can run the bike without the stator by redo all the wiring?
