Hi guys,
you may have seen a few HELP HELP HELP posts from me - the end result has been found that if your machine shop doesn't clamp down yoiur barrels before they bore them out to 444cc - then every liner ends up pissed and different thicknesses front to back. After it drops a valve ( after half a lap )you rebuild it to continue with your national series, and then half a day later one of the bottom of the liners breaks off and gets smashed to pieces and ruins a few things on the way.
After all the dramas i have decided to go away from 20 years old cranks and engines and have a ER6 engine coming from the states. Price landed in New Zealand was cheap ( well what I thought was cheap ) $1700 NZ or 1300 US.. that for a 07 motor 700 miles on th clock with everything to press the start button.
I have also got a full Leo vince race system from the states for $550 US landed. I have found alot of GREAT intel about mods for power ( we have fairly loose modifiing rules in NZ ) but don't know anyone who has put this motor in a ZXR frame.
If anyone has done it let me know...
ill get some pics up as soon as the motor arrives

I gave this serious thought and if I'd found an engine I'd have done it by now but I never found an engine atthe right price.
I dont need to now as 400s are now in a class of thier own at the Manx.
I do know of one guy who fitted an ER650 engine into a CBR400RR chassis with excelent results.
He did it by bolting a cradle to the engine so that it just lifted into the frame with no cutting or changes made to the frame...............so that it could be converted back to a 400 if need be......................finished second in last years Manx behind a one off home made special.

If anyone has pics I'd be interested. Our 650 twins and FIV classes run on formula rules, anything goes as long as the displacement fits.

Yep we have the same ruling in NZ - currently top dogs are Glen W on a SVR ( home built 650 that makes your twin class look like a joke ) see this link for his story
http://www.glenwilliams.co.nz/ Jason Easton on a SXV550 apprilia stuffed in a tigcraft frame - review here
http://www.glenwilliams.co.nz/Article-Aprilia550.pdf But the new kids on the block is called an Ozzy 450 - NZ new... well kida its a GSXR600, with one cylinder unused but left in - removal of valves and some clever thinking makes it a 450cc triple..... when it was created the first time out with a new rider beat Glen W, and smashed the lap record... since then they have gained about 10hp

After finding the 95 racer story i thought the ER6 would be a good heart - and now i have my thing handling and stopping great just needed the grunt factor. Im currently running a H1 frame with l swing arm - Question whats the advantages of an L frame? I have 2 spare h's and am picking up a L model one maybe this week. I have so many bits for h;s so was going to keep with them.. .suggestions
pics to come soon - my eng is out so just waiting on US shipping

We've got a SXV550 in a RS 250 frame. Hasn't been ridden much in anger yet but the potential is great.

Well guys the monster is coming along, the engine is mounted and running in the frame I'm going to strip the frame as we need to weld up the frame, it took a bit of grinding to accommodate the gearbox and clutch, the head part of the eng fits so sweetly. The injectors and throttle bodies goes in well with the STD tank even!
I will try and get some pics up soon, but the carbon magnesium dymags look the best !

We have a guy working on the three cylinder 600's to make a 450 now too. They're still down on power compared to the ZXR400 and much heavier than my bike as well. I think they will make a nice alternative once sorted as it's easy to put them back to a stock 600.
