Oil cooler removal

There seems to be more and more members appearing that are racing the ZXR400 so i've created a special section just for you to show off results, discuss meets etc etc.

Re: Oil cooler removal

I recently bought an oil sump for just 20 euros from a local partshop. He told me that it was from an H model, and I want to fit it on an L engine. The thing is that the holes for the oil cooler are not drilled from the factory, as seen in pictures. My questions are:
1) From which model exactly is it? Was there any H model without oil cooler, but with the holes waiting to be drilled?

2) Does the lack of holes prove that oil bypass works just fine, without any problems?

I'd guess that sump is off a G model ZX400 or whatever that stupid one was before the H came along

Proof that blanking the holes works can be found in the oil flow chart in the manual or in years of my own personal experience

Interesting topic, just past the time I could have done with seeing it. Radiator and oil cooler on mine were pretty much cable tied on, have just bough both from someone who was breaking a bike. Oh well oil cooler surplus to requirement or spare if it goes tits up. Going to order those blanks though biggrin
