ZXR Bogging down

Post by zxr500man »

Hi Everyone,

I just finished rebuilding my carbs. New everything, jets, seals, orings, etc..

I also got my valve clearences done and camchain was fine.

Its a zxr 400 h1.

105 mains, new pilot jets. Main air correctors blocked. 30mm velocity stacks

I just done the float height also.

New inlet rubbers. No air leaks...

Full ti beet down pipes and open can.

Race air box.

It runs fine to 6k revs, it bogs down and bangs and misses to 8k and wont pass that....

Its got a new battery also, new oil, etc...

I belive the problem is with the carbs, but I just cant sort it out.

I had the pilot screws at every possible turn, changed the float height several times..

It will rev to 12k when in neutral but will not rev out when driving....

If anyone can give me some advice, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks for reading.

When sitting in neutral and looking down into the carbs, when reving it out, fuel sprays up from each carb in a mist....from around 6k - 12k...

This lead me to think it was running rich.. but I aint sure either..

The 12k limit sounds suspiciously like the limiter on imports. Which cdi are you running?

What makes the difference between driving and neutral is how the air enters the airbox. I hardly believe that this is you problem but maybe the race airbox isn´t installed properly so that it doesn´t get the air right.

The zxr spits fuel out of the carbs. That is quite normal and not due to running rich..

Thanks for the replys...

I will check the cdi to see what one it is.

When I was testing it, I was not fitting the airbox, also it has a fuel cell, so carbs were exposed...

I will fit the airbox and test it.

Also the 12k issue is a limiter.

At the moment Im just trying to get it going properly up to 12k..
