Re: Li-Po batteries
Not sure of the Li-Po but have used Li-ion batteries on all my race bikes this season with no problems. The weight reduction is decent but as they are packaged as a direct replacement for the standard battery there is no reduction in size.
kept them regularly charged and the 400 has managed 8 race meetings this season trouble free. I also used them in my ER, SV and ZX6 and all performed flawlessly.
I kept a standard battery as a backup, but to be honest the Li-Ion is more reliable. JMT units are pretty good value and can recommend them.

Re: Li-Po batteries
racing battery makes this which is smaller and 1.5kg lighter than standard:

thats what they recommend, although i reckon you might even get away with the lower power "200" battery of theirs...

Re: Li-Po batteries
Alan,
Went for the cheaper Optimate Li model...bought a couple as running 5 bikes in total. No problems at all and still going strong.
Cheers Stuart
