Racing Tyre Pressures

Hi,

Ok, i think im geting this sussed now...

Ive not really looked at my tyre pressures although they where recently done.... but ive just recently decided to start seriously looking at bike setup to get my times doen further and I want to get all the variables consistent so when I change one thing the rest dont affect it cuase they are off already... so what is a recommened tyre pressure -

I heard from a racer that its good to run as follows -

Front 32PSI
Rear 29PSI

What do you run, im only looking for dry weather running as costs dont really allow me to run in the wet yet..... lol and i live in scotland... my whole season next year could be a wash out .....

Last time I was at Knockhill I used

30 F
28 R

I fell off at the hairpin , but I don't think it was the tyre pressure's fault!!!

could of been your static sag LOL

yeah, a guy crashed in front of me there monday night..... warm up laps, and he lost the front end..... it was funny cause i just sensed it was going to happen... pushing to hard on a wam up lap. bike lent over too far on cold tyres and down he goes... lot of crashes at that corner....

That sounds like a carbon copy of my one , the only thing it hurt was my pride though , luckily !

Would recomend 30-31 front & 29-30 rear, lower on colder days, higher on hotter days.

Brands Hatch M.R.O i ran on sunday

Supercorsa pro front Sco 31 psi
Supercorsa pro Rear Sc1 27 psi

Recommened and worked well

Depends on weather but normally run 31 (29-32) front
Rear 28 (29-30)

Hope that helps and we only do 40 laps max on a new tyres as they start to move around more resulting in losing front and you dont want that

Hi There,

Also race ZXR at Knockhill, 30F & 29 R, this is a cold tyre setting. I have also fallen off at the Hairpin but agin not the tyres, just me being special!

cheers, think last Sunday i was running, 31 front 30 rear. But my pressure guage is playing up...

what number are you drew. next race say hello....

anyone recommend a decent tyre pressure gauge....

i ran 45 in the front and 20 in the rear last time i was at croft.

didn't seem to help.

tyre pressure is one of those subjects where every one has an opioion and no one is right.....

Just like tyre choice. I've run race support and techical back up at National Level in supermoto, and have a nice mobile tyre machine which is just used at race meetings, I've seen guys go completly 100% against the best advice I could give them and go faster.

Why?

becasue tyre choices / pressure is 60% science and 40% confidence. What works in your head is what you go fastest on.

Regardless of track temperature / grip / compound / carcass / manufacturer.

You need to get on track for a practice day and play with tyres and tyre pressure, and that sbefore you factor in the mind f*** that is suspension set up

Depends on the tires, the temp and the track. Pirelli DOT's 26-29 rear, 27-31 front. I like them to be about 33 rear/34 front when they are hot.

Michelin DOT's 20-22 rear and 28-30 front.
