bearings

Post by masterofinsanity »

just came across a parts site on the net which shows front wheel bearings for L models as

Kawasaki ZXR 400 L1-L3 91-93 Front Wheel Bearing 20x42x12

i have access to 92 off these 20X42X12 6004 2Z C3 (60042ZC3 Single Row Deep Groove Ball Bearing 2 Metal Shields C3 Rated)

any bearing experts wanna tell me why we can't use them? From what i can make out the originals had rubber seals 2rs which gives better protection to water.

Kawasaki ZXR 400 L1-L3 91-93 Rear Wheel Bearing 20x47x14

i have access to 22 off 20X47X14 6204 2Z C3

Sprocket Carrier Bearing

Kawasaki ZXR 400 L1-L3 91-93 Sprocket Carrier Bearing 25x52x15

i have access to 93 off 6205 Single Row Deep Groove Ball Bearing Open Type 25x52x15mm
probably not much cop as they are open bearings as opposed to rubber sealed.

any comments???

oh, yeh the OE sprocket carrier bearing is an open one anyway .. on early bikes anyhow. the metal shielded ones are fine, used em when despatching and tbh.. never had to replace them in over 30 thousand miles.. but then i dont think the bike got err .. washed either .. :)

get me a price and i'll have a set or two mate, always good to have spares :)

can paypal money whenever.

Open bearings give less friction than the metal sealed ones which give less friction than the rubber sealed ones, so if you're looking for performance, get the open ones :smt002 as used by racers looking for the last fraction of bhp/performance :smt001

steering head bearings for a H model is a standard 32005x taper roller bearing, normally around £3.50 each for budget brand and around £10 each for SKF, any bearing supplier will stock them, don't go paying £30 or £40 for a pair just because it says its for a ZXR 400 !!
