depends how many miles the old chain has been in there .. but probably best to fit a new one. Can be done in-frame easy enough.

Given that a new cam chain is only £20 change it. I'd only change the tensioner if there is a problem with it.
I test them by pushing it back against the rachet mechinism if it moves change it.
I know it can be done in the frame but for me dropping the engine out makes it a much easier job but then mines a race bike so it's easier to get the engine out...................less plumbing and road bike stuff in the way

Well its just done over 33000 miles so I think it might need to be done lol!
