Lock or Loose?

Post by rajrakhiria »

Hi Guys,

Just thought I should share my terrible experience of which I encountered this week. Whilst returning from a dealership (Triumph) to dis-arm my beloved new Daytona's nuisance alarm, I popped into my local supermarket - Tesco, parking conveniently in the dedicated motorcycle parking adjacent to the main entrance. Just had a few essentials to pick up to throw into my back pack!

I was gone probably 30 minutes only to return to find my bike surrounded by security and police. A 'Hoody' teenager was handcuffed and my bike was damaged as he tried to nick it, although his accomplish got away, they broke my steering lock.

Fortunately I/Police got viable witness statements, including true CCTV evidence. However does anyone have any ideas of how I get my cost for repairs reimbursed (more promptly than waiting for a court hearing)? Subsequently any direction of a solicitor for representation/or independent advice??

I will look at the back pages of MCN also. Looking back I wish I had said a few chosen words to the offender, he has caused inconvenience and distress (to both myself and family).

I'm truly gutted as doing a google search, I have seen various comments - (permitting Crown Prosecution Service) proceed with a court hearing of which there is a strong chance, the offender may have an offer of paying in minimal instalments and furthermore if he gets a longer prison sentence, he may not have to cough up any monies at all!

To conclude if you have a decent lock, use it, highly suggest locking it to something. I thought a steering lock was suffice momentarily.

Thanks for taking time out to read my message.

Victim Support......Here I come!

Kind Regards
Raj

sorry to hear this, your best bet is to go and talk to a solicitor, you will get 30mins free advice before they proceed.

Good luck with trying to get money out of the scrote.

Probs on the dole and will pay 20p a week for the rest of his life.

Hi Folks,

Just to give you guys an update. To cut a very long story shorty, recently the offender was convicted of his crime. He got 11 weeks behind bars and was fined to pay me £1000 compensation (this includes repair work to cover damage to my Triumph). Hence I decided not to go through insurance to avoid future heavy premiums.

Offender has been allowed to pay £10 per month! I did question this payment instalments with the crown court.

Only to be told..... :smt014 :smt014 If offender has to pay any more it may affect his way of living and embarg on his human rights!

Just recently came back from a 3 week stay in India ..... amazes me although the driving/riding discipline and road safety can be questioned, people just leave other people's property alone!

confuddled

Glad you got justice. ..just..
The system is bonkers... I had similar many years ago at £12 per month and the payments didn't always turn up either..

Thanks for the update. Karma will prevail :)
