Over-enthusiasm; The Tale of the Exploding Soup.

Post by Vard66 »

Did you know soup could explode?

I didn't, nor would I have guessed that it were so.

However, I came home to a bowl of something in the microwave, so I decided to heat it and find out what it tasted of to figure out what it was, because I'm damned if I'm gonna eat cold soup if I can help it.

So I whacked it in, put it on 450 watts for a minute, figuring that because it was liquid, it wouldn't take much heating.

Went back to it after a minute and a bit, and it was stone cold.
The soup in quesiton is quite thick, so I thought not much of it, and repeated the above heating.
And yet again, it was stone cold.
Ok, I thought, it really is thick, I'll whack up the power.

So, 750 watts, again for a minute.
And still stone cold soup.

Figured this was a bit odd, starting to think the microwave is broken, I stuck with 750 watts and increased the time to one-thirty..

This time it did heat a bit, but only by a degree or so.

I got fed up at this point and put the power up full, and bumped the time up to two and a half minutes.

About two minutes later I was distracted from the manic wailings of Dragonforce, by a dull 'BOOOMPH.' noise. Nothing dramatic, it sounded like a big water butt or something falling from about ten foot, and hitting a hollow wooden floor.

Went back to the Microwave, and the soup had exploded.
Not boiled, but exploded.

It had gone with a degree of force enough to blast a chunk out of the soup bowl, and to spatter all over the inside of the microwave.

So now I've got to go clean the fucking microwave top to turn, and I can't find out what the fucking soup was after all, because it's full of fucking china shards.

And I'm fucking hungry.

Feck. What the hell?
Vard.

Hm.
Peculiar-er and peculiar-er.
I'll be wary in future. Suspicious of soup.

Rofl. Wtf?

The bowl is a microwave-safe china jobby, as far as I know. Unless the decoration on it is done in lead-based paints or something similar, then it should be fine.
It's also been Mic'd hundreds of times before without adverse result.
As far as cheese goes, I've no idea.

Mmm cheese soup! :smt005

I've had stuff sort of go BWOFF randomly all over the microwave, but nothing I could really call an explosion. I always wanted to put some big fat Camel of a spider in there just to see, though...

And shame on you for not filming it!!! :smt018

I didn't know trying to heat my soup was going to cause an explosion, or I would have!
Next time I heat some soup, I'll take a video of it and post it up.

thats what u get for listening to 2nd rate guitar like Dragonforce. Try Stratovarious for more refined musec. Or if you are a muso, Impellitteri , Vai, Morse , Batio etc.

Dragonforce. tut tut tut. next u will say you are an Evertonian.

lol,

after 13 years of occasionally picking up the guitar, im still crap, but i enjoy it.

I'd like a PRS and a decent valve amp, but its just not worth it for someone of my limited ability, i'll stick with my 1970's les paul copy and orange amp.

There's owt wrong with most of the stuff Orange have made anyway.
Myself, I'd love to have just a standard American Telecaster, run it through a BOSS sustain, distortion, delay, volume and a Cry Baby, and into a Fender Twin Amp, sat serving as a head on top of a Marshall 300W Cab.
Money, huh?

I'd also love to fix up the old Gibbo I've got in bits under my bed.
Again, money, huh?

And as far as Dragonforce goes - I run WinAmp on random, with 37 Gigs of MP3s from my spare HDD.
Not even half of that is stuff I like.
There just came a point where I gave up archiving it and just dragged and dropped my friends' entire music collections onto it and just converted them as a bunch into MP3.
