+ some ..

tabs ok if its all you've got.. nothing beats befriending a better player, locking them in a small room and making them show you stuff over and over and over. Im still toad though.

enough of your sex life matey ;) i wish i had mates who could teach me. im self taught. and it bugs me. 17 yrs playing and only now onto Michael Angelo Batio and Chris Impellitteri.

Tabs is also good if you've never ever got the hang of notation. (For whatever reason, I can't read notation vsad )

The way I started learning (and pretty much continued) was simply to put my favourite songs on, and stand by the player, rewinding to the start of various sections of song and playing along with them until I nailed it.

That does require not being tone-deaf, mind.

i played em all and can say that marshall is not the amp people think it is. Hughes and Kettner are nice, but then again boutique amps usually are.marshall just isnt that good anymore.

tbh the best amp i've played though (cost V performace) is a orange amp.

Plus they look funky as.

haha.
i doubt you have, mesa's are good, but they cloned marshalls early mv boards. not many people have access to the real classic amps unfortunatley.
if you get the chance to try a real marshall/vox/fender, you will understand. Im not being a prick, i have been lucky enough to use a few of the best amps ever made.
btw, hughes and kettner are mass produced amps, not boutique as you say.
I agree marshall are not the same anymore.. its just not cost effective to make them like they used too, and i dont think they have the skilled labour to make them, or skilled enough to make good valves

you will never see a good marshall/vox/fender in 99% of music shops, especially in the last 10 years. they change hands to people aware of there whereabouts for lots of money as im sure you are aware.
Like i said, i was'nt being a prick, i love amps and guitars..altho i am no more than a bedroom guitarist myself aswell now.
If youre ever up this way, i promise you, i have a 68 marshall that will convert you forever!

PMSl. i had one of them. bloody awful they was. and oi, Jamz, the only reason bass players like it is cos there are ( usually ) only 4 strings. less for the unwashed to cope with ;)
