German custom 400

Post by zxr-rider »

Maybe someone knows me and/or my bike from the German board... I've only readed the last couple of years on this Forum but never was registerd. But now im here too^^

Originally build 1996, rebuilded 2008-2010 with Blacky...

Background of the building action was to create a new road bike, specifically an individual piece, based on the zxr400 but with a new design and new parts. It takes over two years and lots of sweat to reach this. But i think it was worth.

Here's a little list what we've done the last years...
- Design by Blacky
- MV Agusta F4 faring incl. mirrors
- Koso RX2
- quick throttle
- under pressure fuel pump
- Carbonfelx brake line kit
- Brembo Radial Brake Master Cylinder
- Hartwig front Fender
- 5,5“ rear wheel from a ZX6R
- RRT rearets
- modified micron-exhaust with Akrapovic endcan (ZX6R)
- ZXR 400 Racing tail section with modified gills
- Selfmade tail-skirt
- Modyfied front faring for custom lights
- …

A lot of work gone into that :smt023

Loose the rear hugger as not needed and detracts or cut it down really small :smt003

Needs the hoover tubes :smt002

Welcome BTW :smt114

Love the rear end, lovely job with the exhaust too. Ive had similar ideas of doing it that way, seems you have worked that out really well!

Any chance of a picture with the bodywork off and a some pics of that exhaust system?

At first, thanks for the positive comments :smt001

@Mori Man... nobody needs the hoover tubes :pmsl unnecessary weight :smt002 The rear hugger remains as it is for the dirt protection...

This looks awesome, is that a VFR 400 exhaust section behind the footrest or is it custom?

Id say thats a custom job, the VFR sytem is alot larger and wouldnt fit behind the footrest like this one. Hes been quite clever and used two smaller sections of pipe to make it fit behind there. Surprised to see the exhaust routed round the outside of the subframe and into the exhaust but looks like it has to go that way to accomodate the entry to the silencer.

I suspected as much! I'll have to look into the faesability of getting it done, i must say it doesnt half look sweet! i'd love to give it a shot!

Sorry for the late answer... Yes, it's an custom job. The basis was a stainless steel micron system, which we have cutted at the 4 in 2 section. The rest is also stainless and custom. The Muffler is from Akrapovic which we have turned once in case of the better look and shape... After that the entry of the muffler was on the left and easier to built the pipe around the frame as to customize the muffler... Hope my english is understandable
