ZXR400 - First Bike
Thought Id share a couple of pics of my first bike, which I picked up on wednesday..Got my theory next week and hoping to pass my test by september before Im 21.

Getting a full service and carbs cleaned, with plugs and filters uprated on wednesday.

Hi, that looks nice, just needs a bit of tidying.
Don't put carbon on it, please. It looks gash. No-one thinks it is carbon, everyone knows it's just toad sticky sheet covering up metal. Metal looks far better.
Don't black-tint the screen either, it's pointless. The screen is for looking through when you're tucked down. Tinted / coloured screens are another gash 90s abortion.
You've got a nice standard bike with a really good aftermarket exhaust. Tidy it up, keep it original and you've got something special. Don't turn it into an anodised / carbonised monster. That would be wrong.

Nah I dont Im going to, My plans were to totally change the colour of the bike etc, then go for the track/racing type. But ive now really fallen in love with bike lol! Want to re spray but keep it same colour, and most standard looking.
They only plans I have now is :
fairing, respray.
K&n panel filter.
new levers, black ones i think.
Get smaller/tidy indicators, the big ones make it look so dated.

That sounds better.
The only thing I would say is that the older indicators are much easier to see. IMO the tiny modern ones are a case of style over function and really don't help other road users see your indications as well. But that's prolly just me being an old fart
If you put a K&N filter in the airbox your bike will run lean - seriously lean. Unless you take it to a dyno and pay for dyno time and the carbs rejetting you will burn out your valves and hole your pistons. In the meantime it will run like shite. So be aware that a K&N filter is not a plug-and-play mod, it needs time and money to set the fuelling up to suit. You won't actually gain any power so unless it is done as part of a full tune with engine work and a performance exhaust it is a total waste of time and money.

I dont want tiny ones, I just wint more styleish ones.
The bike is getting a k&n/pipercross panel filter, but the bike is also getting the carbs balanced and the jets will be done. The bike will be also dyno'd once its on the road.
The guy who owns a local bike shop has built his own dyno
Its still not running right now but atleast now the carbs have been cleaned etc, I can start it and run it up the road couple times a week, Just get the bike used again.
Ive been round today, getting quotes for spraing the two side panels and the front fairings..
£60 with me getting paint. which will be around half a litre to be safe so £25.
Going to have to get new stickers, debaiting to get some custom done...

Tiny update,
Ive bought a new front fender for the bike, won it on ebay for £4.99. un painted.
Ive started to strip the bike, making a DIY tidy tail, the farings ive started to rub down, ready for paint soon.
hard finding the time to mess about with it really

New Back Light, New Arrow Indicators, and reflector removed aswell as number plate light.

Reflector sticker on the number plate. And a best mate which is a bike mechanic and works in a bike shop.
