Colour options for front calipers are:-
1 - "original" plus black
2 - Black and white
3 - Gold plus black
last one looks pretty decent, and will match the rear well, and gold calipers really are de rigueur
lastly here is my bike now its all assembled and working...for now

aye, gold it will be with black lettering, will buy some in a few weeks and wait till i get a weekend free, maybe mid august?
I will also paint the rear brake caliper bracket silver, as well as the torsion bar, maybe try to touch up a few bits of paint damage here and there, will ring cradleys see if they have the alpine white-shimmer paint in something other than a rattle can.
been looking at options for a potential future respray, thinking something 'japanese navy ensign' type design...might also look at fabricating a (potentially) one-off fiberglass tail end with attached undertray, a friend of mine has loads of experience making fiberglass boat hulls, and is currently hand bending wood for a 5-meter long arctic canoe...im seeing him today, ill ask him what he thinks. mainly i want to lose the bulky rear end for something more akin to a GSXR tail, i will also need to find what is the legal requirement in terms of lights, reflectors etc for MOT time.

looking at swapping the steel (i think as mine has some rust on it) fairing and meter stays for aluminium ones, £55 for fairing, £69 for meter stay...spray them up gloss black with new fastners...will do when the missus back is turned
must be a big weight saving over standard. Ive got to try to convince her now that either smaller indicators, or combination indicators/wingmirrors will look good.

also looking at doing mori mans "stick coil" conversion, helps with lightness and creates a bit more room around the airbox for a project...

new battery made the world of difference, now it fires up within half a second, as opposed to the 3-5s before...
do old batteries just "die" like that? it has been fine for the last 8 months/4k miles then it just suddenly 'went' over a period of 5-7 days.

my understanding was that if it was a generator fault the bike would not idle, it would start up and quickly die. i had to leave it running for 10 minutes at halfords when i bought the battery and charger so i think it would have died in that time if it was only running off the battery.
im not sure how to go about problem solving the reg/rec...
in other news my list of jobs has been finalised to:
paint front calipers gold with black TOKICO detailing
paint torsion bar silver (currently its coloured corrosion/embedded dirt )
coil stick mod
buy, fit and paint aluminum frame stay and aluminum meter stay
maybe integrated indicators in my wingmirrors?
still think i need a new master cylinder (although its fine at the moment, if i want to pull stoppies i probably could, i can raise the rear off the ground under braking which never happened before)
my levers are all marked (previous owners damage) so a change (in line with the MC)
new bar ends and grips
replace a few bolts with black aluminum (fairings, fuel cap, screen)
new rearsets and matching pillion pegs
powdercoat F+R rims
would like a new brake fluid reservoir for the front
finish polishing frame...
EDIT:looks like if the REG/REC has gone then the system will not be able to REGulate or RECtify the voltage, i have bought a multimeter, when it arrives i will look for voltage spiking up to 16+ volts, as well as looking for low voltages, all under load.

new battery sorted it out, still have a 'mild' hot start, takes 1-2 seconds after a thrashing to turn over, will clean up starter motor contacts like in a recent post by 'cargo'...see if that improves it at all?
might also look at fitting some aluminized matting to the underside of the airbox, and try to cut some out to fit just above the head, with cutouts for the carbs to slot over, might help to deflect radiant heat as well as warm air...
in other news i have bought a new airbox as mine was not sealing properly, for the time being i wanted to see what a k&n filter would look like in there as i had one lying around. looks ok, but the snorkel no longer fits, so i have taken it out of the plate it sits in, replaced that plate and will see what it looks like. wont be fitting it yet, not until i replace exhaust with a freeer-flowing beowulf can in christmas.
also i have bought some 32mm carbs (dont know yet if my current ones are 30mm or 32mm) for me to have a play with, never taken some apart before, ad says they are dynojetted for a ram-air box racing bike...will see whats fitted, give then a damn good clean, ready for testing some bits around christmas time.
incidentally what do people use as a cleaner during sonication? water, gasoline, kerosene, carb cleaner?? i have access to ultra-sonication baths at work, plus every solvent known to man...so if someone can please point me in the right direction?

bot a set of mirrors with integrated signals for my other bike
just for your reference.
but theres a huge downside to it in my opinion.
i cant even see clearly at 100kph. would have swopped back the mirrors for sure if it wasn't sold.
also, take measurements if u can. this set of mirrors ended up protruding more than i like
