I've got no more damage/wear repairs to do anymore with it, its just cosmetic bits then a full refresh of the suspension...then its back to mint condition hopefully to stay that way...

pickup the fairings this saturday, hopefully they look good, never used this painter before...will get them fitted next sunday and take a few pics, not much more cosmetic stuff to do on it now...

much better, though im not happy with one of the panels he did, so i wouldnt use again, i think ill continue saving for my other bits, ride it as it currently is, then take it to a proper professional spray painters and do all the panels at one time.

it passed its MOT with no advisory's so thats another bonus, gonna tax it tonight as ive got a rally to go to on friday...looking forward to it

i can start to accumulate the other bits i need now to get it back to showroom condition

The stripdown has begun...the end goal of this bit is to do a full nut and bolt rebuild, replace every broken/damaged/missing part, powdercoat everything except the wheels, replace the shock/suspension/swingarm bearings, fit a brand new shock, fit grease gun nipples to the uni-track linkage, clean everything before it goes back and properly grease every bit of it!

It will be like a new bike, in the future it will get a proper paint job of the whole bike along with the wheels powdercoating in the exact same shade of green, and a cartridge kit/new springs for my weight...something like that for the front end...will be stunning when done!



im also busying myself with my racing scooter thats getting chopped, slammed, and stretched. Ive had the back wheel pushed backwards 12" from standard and we have lowered it enough whilst still allowing the rear shock to work (dont want a UK hard tail...), its gonna get a small bobber seat, custom electrics, and "fuel in frame"... its got a racing 70cc barel, 21mm PWM carb and a £200 yasuni exhaust, its good for 15hp and will hit a gps 80mph, on 12" wheels

This is how it was as of yesterday afternoon...


Two of the bolts holding in the subframe have rounded the inside of the allen hole off when i tried to remove them, with a 2 minute blast from a blowtorch and 3 days of liberal penetrating fluid before i might add...so i need to now remove the swingarm and shock so i can get to the 14mm nuts on the inside of the subframe with my air impact gun...cant wait to put it together properly now, every hole will be cleaned, re-tapped, all broken bits repaired/replaced etc...gonna be better than when it left the factory

Sorry meant to say now. Wanted to see what sort of damage, if any, your exhaust causes to your panels.

I, like yourself and as you know, have very very little clearance between exhaust and fairing so wanted to see what sort of protechtion the wrap offers

im sure i posted it if not, my exhaust was melting my fairing, so i just cut the bottom of my fairing in such a way you wouldnt know it wasnt supposed to have been like that from the factory. the heat wrap was a previous attempt to keep some of the heat in, ill replace it soon with some proper exhaust wrap as i like the look of it, and it does keep a bit of the heat in, i can feel a difference in radiated heat with the fairings off in that area so it is doing something.

i also put a 4mm spacer between the fairing and the fairing mounting bracket thats next to the exhaust, to further space away the fairing, this has given me a decent bit of clearance that has so far kept my fairing safe from contact melting/radiative melting issues as it was having before...

Ive got a 22mm impact socket (for the bolt), but not a 24mm socket for the nut...so been aplying masses of heat to the nut, and air impact to the bolt...but i think the bolt is seized with too much toad down its length so it aint moving - the free swingarm is less than mobile on its own, it should have some resistance but should be able to move with minimal effort...that is not the current case

So im gonna buy a 24mm 6-side 1/2" drive socket tonight and hit the nut, then batter the bolt out of the swingarm...if that fails and nowt is shifting it it will be time for the angle grinder...i have access to a spare swingarm if necessary, though i would rather not destroy mine...

This reminds me, i am also out of MAPP gas...

starting the cleanup bit now, gonna clean everything that needs to go for blasting and powdercoating, am currently on the dogbones...

look at the state of these no wonder the back end felt so toad


the copper bearings were well on their way out too, 1mm on one side and over 2mm on the other...will all be replaced with new fresh clean bearings when the time comes...
