You won't go far wrong with that CaNsA. I've got the Nitron Sport, I didn't bother with the higher spec one as the extra adjustments and the remote reservoir are extras I'm not going to use. Once it's set for a happy medium on the variety of roads I encounter on a day out there's no point fiddling again.

They got it set pretty spot on from the factory, I just had to adjust the preload probably about a turn with the help of the boy to set the correct rider sag. Damping is as sent. It's definitely the best investment I have ever made and has transformed the handling of the bike from an underdamped pogo stick that struggled to hold a line to something on rails. And it gets a good testing as I seldom ride A roads, most of my scratching is done on B roads or minor lanes which can be a bumpy as a field full of snails. Making good progress on those demands A1 suspension, or yer in deep shite.

While you're throwing your cash about get yourself a steering damper. No really, that's the second best investment I've made. As said, depends how many bumps you generally encounter but with enthusiastic acceleration on a bumpy surface sooner or later she's gonna slap. In the last year my damper has saved my life at least twice and I mean that. Bit of a wobble and crisis over. With no damper it would have been goodnight.

I am in 2 minds that to do with the front end.
Buy some used/raced forks with k-tech internals from Robbie
Get some decent condition stock forks and get maxton to do stuff
Or refresh the stock forks.....

No, my front end is stock. Not even changed the oil and I'm on 13k now. Can't be 100% without checking the service book but I'm pretty sure it's not due for changing yet according to the service / mileage tasks (otherwise I would have done it). If I thought it needed doing I would deffo do it regardless but to be honest I have absolutely no issues with the front at all so I'm an 'ain't broke, don't fix it' sort.

When I got the rear shock people told me that unless the front was A1 I'd notice it, because once the back was doing what it should any imperfections in the front would be more obvious. But the front is spot on.

What I would say is that my weight is within a kg or two of the weight which the standard suspension settings are designed for, according to the owners manual. I have tried tweaking the front settings but nothing is better than standard for me. If I wasn't Mr Kwak's ideal pilot then I would deffo consider doing something with the front. For me this would be getting a decent suspension specialist like Maxton to change the fork springs to those appropriate to my weight. So you might want to consider this. An oil change has definitely got to be on the cards if you think the mileage warrants it or the service history of the forks is unknown. If you've got a fresh set of forks to fit you might as well change the oil before you fit them so you know where you are. It's easy and the oil is bugger all, much less hassle than taking them out again later. Being USD you've got no option but to take them out to do an oil swap. It's all right the seller saying they've been done but have they? Is it decent oil or some cheap shite? Is the amount correct etc? If you do it you'll know it's done right.

I probably wouldn't buy K-Tech forks. Not because they aren't good but for the same reason that I wouldn't buy an Ohlins shock - Mr Joe Average road rider is never going to get anywhere near the point where you would actually notice the extra edge that these mega-bucks things give you, over and above slightly lowr spec but still high quality kit. ZXR400 forks are renowned for being some of the best ever fitted to a road bike of its era - I think they are Showa - and I just think that in good nick, perfectly set-up for your weight, you are not going to exceed their capabilities.

Bloody shocktube still hasnt turned up.... I will be making an semi-arsey phonecall today.....

My mate Swiss picked up a buggered engine (£120) for me on tuesday and dropped it off at OTC where Nik stripped it.
Barrels are fecked as water got in, one of the cam shaft guides has a nasty score in it and 3 of the 16 valves are fuxord.
Bottom end is spot on though.

I was bidding on >> This lot of kit but didnt get it. I'm a bit pissed off as the .5 oversized pistons plus matching barrels, ported head and lightened crank would have sorted this engine right out.

There are a a couple of things on ebay that I'm watching and have asked a few q's about.
Let's see what happens.

£240 for that lot has to be a bargain, shame you didn't get it. That would set someone up nicely in spares if they were keeping the bike long term.

If it helps when setting up the front end (if you don't have an owners book) Kwak recommend preload set at 5th mark from top, and rebound at 7th click from fully turned in for a 68kg rider with no accessories or pillion.

I use a stock froks in both my race bikes and generally it's spot on

Got SPs with the compression adjustment on one


worse problem is that the front bottoms out now and then but only under the most extreme of circumstances like a drop into a bomb hole off a jump
Front end makes a clunk noise and I carry on regardless
Also sometimes under heavy braking if I hit a bump it will bottom out too
It's not enough of a problem to change anything cos they are perfect in every other situation

I get about 15 hours running time between services.........never blown a seal yet either...............keep the slider clean and free of bugs

Arrived @ 830am.
Fitted the shock, feels much better.
I can actually feel what the butt end is doing now.

Forks are waaaay to hard, gonna play with them tomorrow.
