Winter project

Post by wilko »

Started my stripping my bike today. It's getting the full treatment over the winter. Engine rebuild new fairings and a deep clean while the frame is accessible. I have a custom subframe and fairing to go on. I will keep the pics going.

Had a little bit of time spare so I stripped a bit more of the bike. Carbs and engine are next to strip. Can't believe how dirty it was in there once the tank/air box was removed. The loom could do with a tidy up an I think new hoses are in order. Think I will give the Samco treatment.

I know it will cost a bit but I love the bike and will never sell it. I have had other bikes but never enjoy them as much as my 400. So I think it's worth spending the money on :-)

New tail unit and light weight sub frame. Really happy with it

The fact that their is a massive bit of plastic missing, worse than the sp seat unit!

im not a fan of the butt in the air seats, granted its not as bad as soom ive seen, but if you could decrease it 10-15 degrees it would look so much better...it would flow with the lines of the bike better is all im saying.

Seat unit you have no banner is nice because it sits flat with the tank, you could lay a straight bit of wood and it would have almost no gaps, some of the seats are ridiculous, 45 degree angles!

By custom I thought you meant had been made just for you, im guessing it is in fact an rmkd unit? And right! This will be settled, both of you... Piece of string, attach at the infill fairing on top of the tank and right at the end of the tail unit, take a picture side on... Problem solved! Wow, I do ok if im not in pain or on tablets :pmsl

Thanks for your views I think you either love them or hate them. It looks funny at the moment as it isn't painted in the photo it looks massive but it isnt really that big. The reason for the gap it because the fairing isn't made for the zxr but when i have the front fairing made it will all flow nice and i have plans to cover the gaps because i agree it's a bit unsightly. It will look sweet when it's all finished ;-). Daftylad that's the one roger knows his stuff and builds some sweet bikes :-) the way the subframe is build I can have the seat low or high, but I am going for the GP style :-)
I have some ideas for colour schemes. But I am open to ideas.

Lol Matthew that's how it does look I think people are forgetting it on a rear paddock stand that will lift the back end and it's bound to look funny if the bike has no other fairings on.
