My zx400 88
First of all hello everyone !, i am new to this site , i have just purchased an old 1988 zx400 as a project/ hobbie and have just stripped it down to get a look at whats what
it has covered 29 k and is in pretty good condiion for its age , The exhaust is the worst part as it has holes in the manifold joins , i could weld them but i think a new exhaust is in order,
I have been told that a zxr 400L exhaust should fit with some tinkering (thanks zim) and have sourced some parts from an m reg Bike (hopefully) , anyhow i thought id post some pics for you to see how it is now..

Re: My zx400 88
thats well tidy !
best colours too.
look after the plastics.. they dont make 'em anymore and the only bit you'll find aftermarket is the screens. Watch the tail unit, they have a habit of cracking if you carry pillions a lot cos the weight through the pillion pegs twists the subframe, which the plastics are solidly mounted to.
I love ZX4's ..

Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Re: My zx400 88
if you are considering painting it, i'll swap you the panels off ours for your original ones. they are all good, just a few scratches.

Hi and welcome
Very GPx600R lookin
If the panels are unmarked i would keep as is
You could have some fun slotting in some SP cam's from a ZXR and I think their FCR's will fit too
lookin forward to seeing your re-build piccy's
ATB,
DS

Niiice.
Now, someone photoshop me a ZX4 rear end onto a ZXR400L, I know it may be a mission getting some rear fairings, but hell aren't those indicators just rather well thought through?

Re: My zx400 88
im tempted to buy another ZX4 just to paint it like that !
zx4 painted like that with a 636 engine, fcr's 636 radial frontend, H1 braced swinger, dymags ... and lots of custom ally bits ..
notice the bit on that one which attaches to the gear shift rod to stop it bending so they can run without a sprocket cover .. ? i like that
