Flat sides V CV Carbs

I have managed to get hold of a set of flat side carbs for my race bike, but was unsure as to the pros and cons and as to whether it was worthwhile changing.

From what I have heard, flatsides have a tendancy to cause the bike to be lumpy low down, but can offer a couple of extra BHP.

Any thoughts?
