carb balancing

Post by ZXRSHAUN »

Is it better to have a high or low vacuum pressure when balancing carbs and what characteristics will this give if either high or low if any? also at what RPM should the carbs be balanced at i assume just on idle any help would be much appreciated.

I have Morgan gauges and they reckon raise your tickover to 1500rpm or above as this smooths out the engine while balancing and this helps to give you a better reading on the gauges.

You are looking to get all the dials, rods or what ever your gauges have to equal the same.
i.e. the all sit in a line with none higher than the rest.

It is almost impossible to have them all exactly the same, but just get them as close as you can by turning the adjusters very small amounts at a time

yes mate 3 screws at the back of the carbs. 1 to balance 1&2 , 1 to balance 3&4 and the middle one balances both pairs together
