No spark at all. Stumped.
Hi all. This one has got me and my mate stumped.
Engine will turn over and crank. But we've got no-go in the sparks department.
Here's what was done with help of the forum and wiring diagram.
Checked continuity between leads and cdi.
Checked the pickup. Values all within spec.
Swapped the CDI.
This is a long shot as the ignition coils rarely go buy we've swapped that as well.
And still no spark. In all that checking we did find out that the headlight relay is a gonner though we doubt that it's got anything to do with it.
Any ideas on where else i should look?
Cheers!

Yes and thanks for your reply. Checked the pick up coil resistance. Within specs.BigB wrote:just gona throw this out there ... have you replaced the spark plugs?

And used new plug when i pulled the leads out. Still no spark. Oh, no sparks on all 4. Yeah.

Re: No spark at all. Stumped.
might be completely wrong here but something in the back of mind is telling me the big connector under the airbox gets corroded and causes similar symptoms, something to do with a resistor in the ignition switch?
I could have dreamt the whole scenario but i'm sure someone will confirm i'm a nutter?

What is the colour of the cable connecting to the resistor? Can't find it in te diagram. Is it the white one or brown one?

Oh man. Checked both the white and brown wire from the ignition. Kinda hoping that would sort out these gremlins. But no, white and brown wires are fine.
If it's the earth, I'm gonna kick myself real hard in the butt. Will check it out Rob! Thanks!

The earth's not it. We're gonna look at it from a different angle. See whats killing the ignition.
Other than the kill swith, clutch switch and side stand switch, what else is capable of killing the ignition?
Cheers!

Guess I should update on what the mech did.
He got so frustrated that he unplugged everything. Plugged everything back in and guess what, the rascal fires up.
