Balancing carbs.

Post by MRLZXR400 »

Hi, I've looked back at previous postings on this and there is a guide a member drew up and a link to the HTML bit when I click on it it comes up page not found. http://www.zxrworld.co.uk/zxr400/balancing.html

Just wondering if anyone has another link to it please?

I'm basically looking for info on using a carbtune to balance the carbs on my L9. Where to put the tubes etc.
Is it the copper outlets with the Allen screws in at the base of the carbs for example?

Many thanks
Mark

Apologies, didn't mean to write copper tubes.
I'm referring to the outlets at the base of the carbs with an Allen screw in, are they used to balance the carbs...?

On the zxr there are balancer Tu es below the carbs that link #1 and #4 inlets, as well as #2 to #3...you pull off the hoses, connect the carbtune hoses and hold the revs at a slighty fast idle, about 1500-2000k rpm, use the balancer screws to balance #1 and #2 cylinders, then do #3 and #4 cylinders...finally you balance the middle screw, should be you done.

Before balancing you should have made sure the carbs are fully clean, that all the internals are set the same, and that your pilots are set correctly.

Also the balancing screws are in front of the return spring facing the front (if memory serves). The ones you were talking about are the idle mixture screws

They also show you how to balance the carbs
